Dear Readers,
"Princesses." After an immediate glance shared between the three of us, it was made clear that great minds truly do think alike and our topic for this multi-genre research project was born. Imagine the excitement of three high school girls being assigned a project of this magnitude the last two weeks of classes....not exactly thrilled. However, picture the excitement of three girls once they realize they can incorporate some of the most inspirational women to ever grace a television screen-Disney's Princesses. In all honesty we were probably much more eager to begin this project than the four year olds who watch the movies for the very first time.
Now, "multi-genre research project" is a bit of a mouthful and more than a little intimidating upon first introduction. Especially after hearing an abundance of "horror" stories from previous classes who have set out to accomplish the same project. Although upon further examination and break down of the task we came to see its simplicity, as well as detected some definite hyperbole in the aforementioned "horror stories."
At this point we had a decent understanding of what we needed to accomplish, but how on earth can sparkly dresses and singsong voices relate to the American Dream? Following some deep thought we identified a few motifs within the line of princess stories, which then lead us to formulate our thesis for this project. Disney's Princesses are ideal icons of bravery, ambition, positivity, determination, and hope-all of which combine seamlessly into what we refer to as The American Dream.
The collection of items awaiting your eyes has been prepared in honor of the esteemed Disney Princess induction ceremony for Princess Elsa and Princess Anna. This highly anticipated event is to be held in exactly two weeks from today's date-5/8/2014. How exciting!! We hope you enjoy veiwing this project as much as we did constructing it.
